Charles Darwin 1809-1882

  • Theory of specie mutations

After a couple years exploring South Africa, Charles Darwin started to ponder the possibilities of specie mutations. He claimed that over time, animals evolved over a large amount of time, opposite of the saltationist theory. He also believed that species would evolve to become better adapted to their environment. Like science, animals are constantly adapting to an ever changing environment.
  • The study of finches and beetles

The study of finches and beetles
Charles Darwin studied finches and beetles. After years of observation, he discovered that even though some birds that people thought were finches, were a completely different bird. These observations also allowed Darwin to understand how individual species develop over time. He found that even though you could have 2 of the same type of bird, that there were some differences in their shape, look, and other characteristics.
  • The discovery of natural selection

Charles Darwin is possibly one of the most well known scientist in history and this is mostly contributed to his perseverance through doubts of his peers. Using the discoveries and research from his adventures he reveled that he believed that species go through many changes transform over time. He was able to determine that starvation was the leading factor when it came to natural selection.

  • Philosohpy of Science

Charles Darwin contributed to science by going out to the field and trying to disprove other scientist's hypothesis. This wasn't out of spit, but because Charles Darwin had great opportunities to travel the world. Thanks to lust for discovering species, he was able to collect a mass amount of information and then put all of his theories in the form of a book. This book would go on to be one of the number one selling science books ever.
