    In 1943 John and his crew were spying on the Japanese ships. When spotted the Japanese’s ship attacked them slicing the boat in half. Two men died and one man was brutally burned but Captain John put the crew on his back and swam them to safety.

    On Ferguson Passage Island where the crew was stranded for six days is where the crew was saved as well. The men gave a message to native islanders on a coconut to give to Americans where two days later the crew was rescued.

    On August 20th 1944 a tragedy happened to Johns brother Joseph. He went out on a mission for the US Air Force and never came back. His plane was shot down by a German plane and blew up killing Joe instantly.

    On November 22nd 1963 at 12:30 a tragedy happened President John F. Kennedy was assonated by Lee Harvey Oswald. It was a tragic day most of the United States broke down in tears hearing this. But three days after JFK died Jack Ruby killed Lee Harvey Oswald in a police station in Dallas.
