    Soviet/ German nonaggression pact
    Hitler did not want any possibility of a two front war. The Soviet Union and the Germans both agreed not to attack each other. Significance- If Germany attacks Poland, the Soviet Union can't come to it's aid and can't enter the war. It doesn't cause a teo front war for Germany.

    Germany invades Poland
    Significance- It was Germany's first test of their new military strategy. It was called the Blitzrieg, the lighting war. France and Britain declared war on Germany but, it was to late because Poland fell apart and Hitler already annexed the western half of Poland.

    After Germany invades Poland, the French and the British mobilized their armies along France's borders. They were waiting for Germany. Then troops stared towards east to the enemy Significance- It was called the "sitting-war"

    Stalin sent soviet troops to occupy the eastern half of Poland. Then he moved them to the North half of Poland so that he can annex it. Significance- After all of that, he sent troops off to Finland, expecting to win. They were not prepared for war causing it to become a Cruical mistake.

    Hitler launched a surprise incasion on Denmark and Norway. Significance- Denmark fell apart 4 hours after the attack and Norway fell apart 2 months after the attack.

    Hitler took over the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Significance- His next strategy is to stike at France

    Rescue at Dunkirk
    Germans had trapped the Allied Force around the northern part of French, city of Lille The Allies retreated to Dunkirk and Great Britain set out troops to help Significance- Ships sailed back and forth from Britain and Dunkirk. The ships carried 338,000 soldiers to safety.

    After Dunkirk, France became to fall apart and french leaders surrendered. Significance- Germany tool control of the northern part of the country.

    Luftwaffe bomded Great Britain. First the Germans started attacking British airfields and aircraft factories, and then started to attack cities. Significance- The Battle of Britain thought the Allies a crucial lesson.

    Mussolini odered his army to attack British- controlled Egypt Significance- Italian troops had pushed 60 miles inside Egypt making the British units pushed back.

    The British had taken 130,000 Italian prisoners Significance- Hitler steps in to help Italy

    Hitler invades the Soviet Union and The Soviet Union was not prepared to fight. Significance- Hitler and the Soviet Union already had an agreement not to attack each other. Hiter broke that agreement.

    Roosevelt and churchill secretly issued a joint declaration. It aloud free trade among the nations and the right of people to choose their own government Significance- It later served as the Allies' peace plan at the end of World War 2.

    German U- Boats fired at a U.S. destroyer in the Atlantic. Then Roosevelt ordered navy commanders to shoot at German submarines if they are in sight. Significance- Now United Stated is involved in an undecalared naval war with Hitler.
