    Around this time, Jeannine's father took her into hiding. She went into a streetcar with him and he brought her to a house. He brought her to a house and a woman opened the door. That was the last time he ever saw her father.

    Jeannine lived in the house for 2 years. She watched the Nazis march outside from the safety of an outhouse. But one day, the neighbors snitched on her. At 5am one morning the Gestapo jumped the brick wall and broke down the door to her parents room. Her sister had osteomyelitis. Her mother refused to leave her and so the Gestapo said they would be back for them later. That gave them time to escape and go back into hiding.

    Her mother finally came back to get her and her sister who had to learn to walk all over again because of the bone disease. One day, she remembers seeing soldiers on the street. every family took in a couple. jeannine remembers getting chocolate and starting school. Her family had been waiting and waiting for her father to arrive after the Holocaust had ended. They enventually found out that he had been killed in the gas chambers.

    In February of 1950, Jeannine's mom died of breast cancer when she was only 10.

    The International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union was having their 50th anniversary celebration in Atlantic City. Jeannine said it was like "heaven" and they were "treated like royalty"

    In 1985, Jeannine attended the World Gathering of the Holocaust survivors in Philidelphia. She was with many people who had been through way worse than her. But they had all survived.
