St. Francis Xavier arrived in Japan
In 1549, St. Francis Xavier arrived in Japan at Portugal service to promote Christianity in the country. -
Japanese Attack Korea
The two Japanese invasions of Korea took place from 1592 to 1598. Toyotomi Hideyoshi led Japan into the first invasion (1592–1596) with the goal of conquering Joseon Dynasty Korea, and Ming Dynasty China. -
Christianity Banned in Japan
To maintain political stability, Leyasu issued the Christian Expulsion Edict prohibiting all Christian activity among Japanese people. -
Fall of Osaka Castle
In June 1615, the Tokugawa armies rammed though the gates of Osaka Castle and burned it to the ground. -
Death of Ieyasu
After the fall of the Osaka Castle, Ieyasu returned home to Suruga and went on a hawking tour. He then fell ill, and summoned his family to prepare for his death. He then died on the first of June, 1616. -
William Adams Dies
William Adams, the first English man who set foot on Japanese soil, fell ill and died at the age of 56. -
Shogunate Bans Portuguese Ships
After the Shimabara Rebellion, Iemitsu banned Portuguese ships from Japan's shores and expelled all foreigners. -

Famine Devastates Japan
the Temme Famine was one of the worst famines of the Edo period. The famine lasted from 1782 to 1787. Mortality estimates range from 200,000 to 900,000 people. -

Japanese Invasion of Taiwan
29 May- 21 October 1895, was the Japanese invasion of Taiwan. The Japanese fought to take control of their new possession, while the Republican forces fought to resist Japanese occupation.
The fall of Tainan on 21 of October ended organised resistance to Japanese occupation, and inaugurated five decades of Japanese rule in Taiwan. -
