  • Battle of Horseshoe Bend

    Battle of Horseshoe Bend
    The Creek Indians of Georgia and Alabame had been seperated. There were those who were with American expantion and theose who did not like it. The Red Sticks, aka the ones who did not want America to expand were in their fort and Jackson launched an attack on them which became known as the Batte of Horseshoe Bend.

    This was the final major battle of the war of 1812, the American forces defeated an invading British Army with an intent on seizing New Orleans. The only reson why this battle occured is that the countries had slow communication.

    The first time Jackson ran for president in 1824 he was unfairly beaten when Henry Clay convinced Congress to elect Adams. But the second time around Jackson won by a landslide.

    Five tribes, the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee-Creek, and Seminole were living west of the Mississippi and because of Manifest Desitny Jackson wanted to expand, the indians did not want to be a part of what the Americans were doing so they cooperated.

    Worcester beleived that the statue in Georgia stating that non-Indians being on Indian land without a license was unconstitutional.

    The states were upset about all of the protective tarrifs the Federal Government had put in place, although the tarrifs helped industries in America it hurt the southern farmers. Then South Carolina threatened to succede and then Henry Clay came in and solved the problem.

    Jackson enlists in the Revolutionary Army
    At the age of thirteen Jackson enlisted in the Rveolutionary aarmy and took place in the battle of Hanging Rock. He was also taken prisoner by one of the British, and when the Brit asked for a shoe shine Jackson refused and got hit in the head with the blunt side of the officers gun ande that gave him a scar he bore for the rest of his life.

    Jackson did not like the idea of a national bank, so when he got into office he began to thing of how to end it. Well the time came around for renewal of the charter and Jackson veto'd it.
