  • Jacksons Birth

    Jacksons Birth
    Andrew Jackson was born in the Carolinas in 1767. His parents, who were Scots-Irish colonists, emigrated from Ireland in 1765. In 1796, Jackson was a member of the convention that established the Tennessee Constitution. Jackson also joined the war of 1812.
  • Jackson enlists in the Revolutionary Army

    Jackson enlists in the Revolutionary Army
    During the War of 1812 he led his troops to victory against the Creek Indians at Horseshoe Bend, killing 800 warriors and procuring 20 million acres of land in present-day Georgia and Alabama. After this military success, Jackson was appointed major general.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    When Jackson lead 1500 soilders in the defeat of 7500 British soilders Jackson became a national hero. His troops said he was "as tough as old hickory wood" on the battlefield, earning him the nickname "Old Hickory."

    The Election of 1824 was the only election decided on the House of Rep resentatives. Even though Jackson had the popular vote he still lost to John Q. Adams.

    In the ecletion of 1828 John Q. Adams ran against Andrew Jackson, the runner-up. Since there where no major candidates Jackson beat Adams by a landslide.

    Worcester v. Georgia was a case was a case in which the United States Supreme Court vacated the conviction of Samuel Worcester and held that the Georgia criminal statute that prohibited non-Native Americans from being present on Native American lands without a license from the state was unconstitutional. The Court decided not to carry out the decision.

    Cherokee men,women, and children where moved from there homes along the Trail of Tears. They ended up west of the Mississippi marching in horrible conditions. More than 4000 Native Americans died along the way.
