    President threatened to deploy troops to occupy South Carolina, the state that suggested a nullification on the protectice cotton tariff.

    President Jackson urged Congress to pass the Indian Removal Act, which appropriated funds for relocation of the Indians.
    -Indians were forcibly removed and driven west along the Trail of Tears
  • Maysville Road Bill (political)

    President vetoes the Maysville Road Bill which would have the federal government provided the funds for the creation of road entirely within Kentucky. Jackson regarded the project as a local matter. Others claimed it was an abuse of power.
  • Peggy Eaton Affair (Social)

    Peggy Eaton Affair (Social)
    Peggy Eaton was rumored to have an affair with Jackson's cabinet and their wives Tennessee senator John Eaton, who later became Jackson's secretary of war. Members of Jackson's cabinet and their wives excluded Peggy from their circle. Jackson called for the husbands and wives to reach out to Peggy.
  • Treaty with French (International)

    The French government agreed on a treaty to repay the spoliation dating back to the Napoleonic Wars. French agreed on an amount of $5 million but then refused. Thus, America threatened with the superiority of American navy.

    Andrew Jackson vetoes the bill that would extend the life of the Second Bank of United States. President Jackson's position in the Bank War appeal to a big mass during the reelection which led to his victory in 1832.
  • Black War (Domestic)

    The Black War was a futile effort to resist removal of the Sauk and Fox Indians, under the leadership of Black Hawk. The Indians attempted to move back to Illinois but was defeated by federal trooops and Illinois units.

    Edmund Roberts , commissioned by Jackson as the "special agent" of the US, negotiated commercial trade treaties abroad.
  • Bank War (Economic)

    Bank War (Economic)
    Jackson decided to terminate the life of the Bank by issuing an order for the Treasury Department to withdrawal its $10 millions deposits to state banks, also known as "pet banks".
  • Specie Circular (Economic)

    President Jackson issued the Specie Circular, declaring that only gold or silver could be used as payment for public land.
