  • National Fascist Party

    Created by Mussolini as a political expression of fascism; ruled Italy from 1922-1943. Basically they were trying to be the only political party (dictatorship).

  • Washington Treaty System

    1. 4 Power' Treaty- The Unitesd States, Britain, France and Japan confer if there was a crisis in Pacific. This ended Anglo-Japanese Alliance.
    2. 5 Power Naval Treaty- limits the size of the United States, British, Japanese, French and Italian navies.
    3. 9 Power' Treaty- Japan, the United States, Britain, Japan, Italy, China, Belgium, Portugal, and the Netherlands were to respect China's integrity, independence and Open Door Policy (stopped colonization).

  • The March of Rome

    A group of fascist led by Mussolini marched to take over Rome. The king did not use the army to stop them but instead allowed Mussolini to assume power.

  • The Corfu Incident

    Italians bomb and occupy the Greek island of Corfu. The Italians claimed it was retaliation for the murder of an Italian general but it was really to continue their policy of imperialism.

  • Matteitti Murdered

    Fascist had been fighting to eliminate the social and communist parties. They murdered socilaist leader, Matteitti. Within 5 years, fascism was the only political party.

  • Mussolini declares war on Sicilian Mafia

    Mussolini attempted to eliminate those opposing him in Southern Italy.

    Italian Secret Police

    Mussolini developed the OFRA. They imprisoned any Italians who were against fascism.

  • Mussolini wants to increase population

    Promtes people having children. He wants to increase Italian influence in Europe.

  • The Latern Treaty

    An agreement between Mussolini and the Vatican creating mutual recognition of power between the two. Eliminated the power struggle between religious people and the government.

  • Pontine Marshes

    Mussolini drained the Pontine Marshes to eliminate the threat of malaria.

  • Oath to Fascism

    Mussolini forced teachers in Italy to swear an oath to only teach fascism to students everywhere. Media became sensored as did the press (newpapers) to only speak highly of fascism and Mussolini policies/practices.

  • The 4 Power Pack

    Britain, France, Germany and Italy signed a treaty to balance power. It was suggested by Mussolini to prevent struggles of trade and territories.

    During the international crisis oer Italy's Invasion of Ethiopia, all attempts by the League of Nations and other forums to agree on effective action to restrain Italy fail. Hitler's support of Mussolini's war brings Germany and Italy to alliance.

    A crisis oveer a large border region in western Czechoslovakia ends in an agreement between Germany, Britain, France, and Italy. This authorized German annexation of these territories.
