In order to begin, student practices to demonstrate the performance indicators of each of the 2007 ISTE Standards were created.
-
Based upon the development stages of students, the level at which the "practices" can be implemented were articulated.
-
Each grade level was evaluated to determine the ability of students to complete the tasks associated with each "practice."
-
-
Under each standard and student activities, web-based resources were added to allow teachers to better map their lessons to digital age tools.
-
Each district/IU planned and delivered professional learning around the ISTE Standards (2007) and used the skill matrix as a way to help teachers evaluated their content and find ways to better use technology to develop digital skills within their students.
-
Upon the release of the 2016 ISTE Standards, verbs that describe the new performance indicators were identified and aligned to student practices.
-
Using the action verbs aligned to the performance indictors of each standard, learner "I/We Can" statements and profiles of skill development were created by grade level or grade band.
-
Materials were created to publish and develop professional learning around the new learner profile documents.
