    This war began after World War ll and it was a politcal rivalry between the United Sates and the Soviet Union. Their supporting allies were aganist each other as well. This war lasted between 1946-1989. Many Important events have taken place during this time. The purpose of this project is to inform people about the history of this unforgetable war

    The Iron Curtain

    The Iron Curtain was a politcal boundary which divided Europe into two seperates areas. This was established towards The beginning of World War ll and lasted until 1989. It divided the Warsaw Pact countries from the NATO countries. This Iron curtain was a visual representation of how Europe was viewed to the world after World War ll
  • The Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan

    This European recovery program was created by the US to provide aid to Western Europe after World War ll ended. This plan was meant to reconstruct cities and heavily damaged infrastructure within four years. The US decided to create this plan to stop the spread of communism.
  • The Berlin Airlift

    The Berlin Airlift

    During the post World War ll, the Soviets occupied Western Germany (Berlin) and blocked the Western Allies' roads, railways, and canal access. The United Kingdom and the United States responded by airlifting food and fuel to Berlin's airbases in Western Germany. This was one of the first major events that occured during the Cold War.

    When NATO was established

    The Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is an international political organization which was established in 1949. This organization was formed by several western powers.​​ The NATO pact was a military alliance to stop Soviet aggression and the repeat of nationalist militarism in Europe. The US and several European countries are a part of this organization. The pact also stated that if one of the countries gets attacked, the other countries will defend them with their military.

    The Warsaw pact is a defense treaty created by the Soviet Union in 1955. This pact was made after Western Germany decided to join NATO in 1955. The Soviet Union took this as a threat and retalited into creating this pact with other Soviet satellite states.

    This war was between North Vietnam and South Vietnam.This War was the Second IndoChina war. North Vietnam was an allie to the Soviets and South Vietnam was an allie to the United States. The event occured because the United States feared communism would take over the world.

    The Soviet Union launched the earth's first artificial satelite, Sputnik. This event created a space war between the United States and the Soviet union. Both decided to advance and develop scientific technology during the Cold War and this has initated space wars

    Bay of Pigs Invasion

    This event was failed attack launched by the CIA to overthrow the Communist Cuban leader, Fidel Castro from power. This invasion was badly organized and the US surrenderd within 24 hours. This streghten Castro's control over Cuba.

    This wall was a barrier between West and East Berlin. It was created to prevent people from fleeing East Berlin. This wall stood its ground for 28 years.

    Cuban Missle Crisis

    The Cuban Missle Crisis almost began a nuclear war. The United States and the Soviet Union were in a tense,13-day politcal and military standoff about the installation of nuclear missles in Cuba. President John F. Kennedy and President Nikita Khrushchev came to the same terms and prevented this nuclear war.

    The deconstruction of the Berlin Wall marked the falling of the Iron Curtain and the ending of Communism in Central and Eastern Europe. This event signifies the unification of Germany after 28 years.
