    Ida Tarbell published her article about standard oil because she believed standard oils unfair tactics ruined her father’s independent oil business and hurt other small businesses. She implied in her article that Standard Oil used methods to eliminate competition and consolidate its power. By her articles work exposing the company’s unfair practices. Ida helped shift the public perception and fostered anti-monopoly sentiment.

    The Dead Rabbits Riot

    The Dead Rabbit riot was a major gang battle in New York City on July 4, 1857 between the Irish and American Dead Rabbits Gang and the nativist Bowery boys. This riot began as a small street fight but quickly escalated and enlarged into a gang war when Dead Rabbits attacked the Bowery boys Clubhouse. It lead to many and deaths property destruction people estimate and number of gang members between 800 - 1000 involved. The New York State restored order the 5th of July.

Their main goal was to suppress black voting rights. There were allegedly three generations of the this klan. The US Congress later took the klans actions down in law.
