In these chapters Cassia has to deal with the loss of her grandfather who she was very close with. Along with the death of her grandpa, there are some forbidden poems of which only her and Ky Markham know about. Chapter 10-17, pages 105-186
Unlike the last few chapters, these not only focus on the relationship between Ky and Cassia, but Xander and Cassia as well.Cassia finally destroys the poems after finding out her house was searched due to a missing sample from her grandfather, but wanting to hold the poems close she askes Ky to teach her how to write. With those moments between Ky, Cassia also shares special moments with Xander, not without thinking about Ky. Fiction, Pages 105-186 Total (186) -

In these chapters Cassia gets to know Ky more, not only by reading the stories hes been giving her, but also in the ways she has been watching him and the way he does things. As the story continues to go on Cassia is becoming more detached from Xander well slowly falling in love with Ky. Setting her love triangle aside she can notice how something is wrong in her town from the shortage of officals to how they are are taking thier "artifacts" away. Fiction, pages 186-242. Chapter 22-31, pages 242-348
In this span of chapters Cassia and Ky's intensity began to escalate, with them having thier first kiss and admitting thier love for each other. After coming to that conclusion, Cassia finally tells Xander that she fell in love with somebody else only to have that love get taken from her to be sent to fight in the war. The day after Ky gets sent to war an offical tells Cassia how their whole relationship had been a set up, finding that out she is determined to find Ky. -
Chapter 31- end, pages 348-366
In the end of the book Cassia gets news that her and her family are moving to the farmland, this happened the night after Ky was sent off to fight in the war. Before she leaves Xander comes to say goodbye with a few survival necessities because he knew she was going to find Ky. Not only Xander knows that Cassia is in love with Ky, so does her family and the book ends with them saying they will do as much as possible to help her find him. Fiction, pages 348-366. Total (366)
