  • She was born

    The unknowing legend was born on september 13 1775.
  • Childhood

    She could never go to school, instead she had to help around the house
  • Childhood

    when she was eight her mom passed away and her father remarried twice.
  • Moving

    She moved up to upper Canada in 1795 where her father received a township grant and he made farm and ran the town untill surveyed.
  • Marriage

    Within two years she married James Secord and would eventuallyhave six daughters and one son
  • Settling down

    At first, they lived at St Davids but then settled at Queenston
  • Injury

    Early in the war of 1812 James Secord who was a lieutenant in the 1st Lincoln militia was rescued by his wife ( Laura Secord).
  • The Overhearing

    On June 21 1813 she over heared american soldier dining at her house talking about the ambush the american soldiers had planned and she resolved to tell the british specifically James Fitzgibbon
  • The long stretch

    Just to warn the American base they were planning to ambush she walked 18 hours and encountered an Indian base under allyship with Britain. three days later, led by Fitzgibbon they ambushed the American base. She basically turned the tides of the war.
  • The rough patch

    The second lived in poverty after the years of the war of 1812 and began becoming more financially sound in the years of 1828-1833, but sadly he died in 1841 leaving Laura Secord without any money making her run a school in her Chippewa cottage for a breif period.
  • Fame long-lost

    Laura Secord was 85 before she got any public recognition for what she had done in the war of 1812 and the prince of wales prepared a memorial for her and she even signed her name along those of the war veterans.
  • Her Death

    She died in 1868 at the age of 93 and was buried alongside her husband at Drummond Hill Cemetary, Niagra Falls.
  • What is she remembered for

    She is remembered for her resilience and determinedness to warn the birts about the impending attack that probably turned the tides of the war.
  • How did she "change the tides" of the war

    She changed the tides by warning the brits about the ambush that would have taken down a very important leader in this war ( James Fitzgibbon.
  • Why I chose her

    I chose her because shes a real inspirational figure in doing the right thing even when it seems hard to because it was a 18 hour walk and she still did it also she risked her life doing it.
