The Yarra River was discovered and there was an expedition around the area of what is now known as Dight Falls.

in 1835 Melbourne was settled and the area was sub divided.

In 1839 John Dight bought Melbourne block 88. This block had 26 acres most of which was along the Yarra River.

John Dight announced in the Sydney Herald that he was leaving to go to Port Phillip.

In 1841 Dight Falls was built.It was built to provide water to Ceres (a flour mill built by John Dight).

In 1864 the Dight family abandoned their mill.

In the year of 1878, the Dight families mill was sold to Edwin Trennery. Edwin later subdivided the land he had bought.

The original mill on the river bank was occupied again in 1888 by three flour millers. They constructed a new mill and started operating under the name of 'Yarra Falls Roller Flour Mills'.

Yarra Falls Roller Flour Mill was sold to the Melbourne Flour Milling Company in 1891.

In 1895 a timber weir was built at Dight Falls. It was used to provide water to the Melbourne Flour Milling Company.

In 1909 the mill was sold again, later on the mill was destroyed by a fire.

During a flood in 1918 part of the wooden weir at Dight Falls was washed away, therefore, people were forced to rebuild the weir.

In 1940 there was a breach at the weir causing 1.5 tons of rock to be distributed along the river.

In 1967 another breach happened. This time timber decking, walings and rock had been washed away as well as much irrepareable damage.

in 1968 the damage caused by the previous years heavy rainfall was fixed up with concrete and timber decking.

In 1993 a rock fishway was constructed.
