  • Rape of Nanking

    Rape of Nanking
    Second Sino-Japanese War of mass murder and mass rape by Japanese troops. proceeded to murder 300,000 out of 600,000 civilians and soldiers in the city. Between 20,000 and 80,000 women were sexually assaulted. This took decades for Nanking to then be rebuilt and fixed properly.

  • Germany's Invasion of Poland

    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    1.5 million German troops invade Poland all along its 1,750-mile border. German Luftwaffe bombed Polish airfields, and German warships and U-boats attacked Polish naval forces. Hitler claimed this was in act of a defense but France and Britain didnt believe so. Munich Peace Confrence gave Hitler his land and in return he promised he would stop taking land. It was pretty obvious he wasnt telling the truth.

    Germans enter Paris on Jun 14, 1940. known as the Fall of France. Germans enter France and and completely take over France and the US and Britain step in and help take France back.

    German term meaning “lightning war". This is tactic used to disorganize enemies using mobile units and using local firepower. The Germans tried this tactic against Poland and wasnt so successful till the invasons of Belgium and France

  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Hitler sent his armies eastward to try and invade the Soviets on a large scale. Three great army groups with over three million German soldiers. 150 divisions with three thousand tanks smashing acrossinto Russia. The Germans showed great strength till Winter hit and had no Winter clothes as protection. This was the downfall of Nazi Germany.

  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    The overall mission was a fail as the American aircraft carriers were not in the harbor at the time of the attack. Japan suprise attacked the Hawaiian naval base. This happened due to the fact the Japan wanted to try and control the pacific ring. Japan knew the biggest threat to Italy, Germany and themselves would be the US so they tried to suprise attack the US to guarentee we wouldnt have a military to enter the war.

    Wannsee Conference
    A conference of high ranking Nazi officials to discuss the plan of actions against the Jews. Hitler beleieved the Jews were the reason the Germans lost WW1 so in turn it lead to a mass killing of Jews. The Holocaust was the overall ending to this story

    Japanese Interment
    President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed 9066 relocation the Japanese to interment camps. relocation of around 120,000 people, some US citizens. This is a reaction to bombing of the Pearl Harbor. This led to survivors of the camps recieving compensation for the wrong-doings of the US.

    Manhattan Project
    The Manhattan Project was a research and development project that produced the first nuclear weapons during World War II. United States government is conducting a secret, nationwide enterprise that will take science from the laboratory and into combat. This was a project in the making in defense of the coutry if ever needed.

  • Allied invasion of Italy

    Allied invasion of Italy
    British 8th Army under Field Marshal Bernard L. Montgomery started the invasion of Italy. Starting at Sicily and landing at Calabria. the Italian government secretly agreed to the Allies’ terms for surrender but it wasnt publicly told till later on. Mussolini wanted to make Italy more like a Roman Empire but being defeated in WWII left this all but a dream.

    American soldiers make their first strike on the Japanese. Iwo Jima was defended by roughly 23,000 Japanese army and navy troops. Despite the difficulty of the conditions, the marines wiped out the defending forces after a month of fighting.

    codenamed Operation Iceberg. series of battles fought in the Ryukyu Islands. bloodiest battle of the Pacific War. Last and biggest of the Pacific island battles of World War II. The capture of Okinawa was part of a three-point plan the Americans had for winning the war in the East.

  • Dropping the Atomic Bombs

    Dropping the Atomic Bombs
    President Harry S. Truman accepted a bill to drop two Atomic bombs in Japan, starting at Hiroshima and the leading to Nagasaki. This new weapon quickly took Japan out the war and ended WWII. American bomber Enola Gay dropped a five-ton bomb of Hiroshima. Bomb was called "Little Boy".

    This is the Victory over Japan day. we beat JApan by dropping 2 bombs inn Hiroshima as well as Nagasaki. At the time, President Truman declared September 2 to be VJ Day. This was the official ending of WWII.

    Series of 13 trials carried out in Nuremberg, Germany. Nazi Party officials and high-ranking military officers were in trials to await there pounishment for the Holocaust crimes committed.   • Battle Of Stalingard

    Battle Of Stalingard
    Germans were eventually defeated on the Eastern Front, turning point in the war. Nazi Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad in Southern Russia. Many believe this battle to be the greatest of the WWII conflict. It stopped the German advance into the Soviet Union and was turning of the tide of war in favor of the Allies.
