    The first home game system. The controllers were just large blocks that had dials on the side. The system came with plastic sheets you would put on the screen to play the games.
  • Atari 2600

    The Atari 2600 releases.It used 2 controllers that used a joystick. There were several games made for like pong, breakout, pac man, etc.
  • Pac Man

    One of the most successful and famous arcade systems ever made. Made by Namco, Pac man became the face of arcade games. The goal of the game was to eat all the dots while avoiding the ghosts.

    Shigeru Miyamoto makes Donkey Kong
    At first, he was planing on making an arcade game based on the cartoon Popeye, but do to legal matters, he made an original game. Donkey kong was the first game to introduce Donkey Kong and the character Jump Man who would later be known as Mario. Mario would also go on to not only be the face of Nintendo, but the face of video games in general.

    The game Super Mario Bros. was released on the NES. It was one of the first nes games when it first released. It was also a 2 player game.

    Nintendo releases the Game Boy.It was sold with the game Tetris, making it the most sold Game Boy game. Several variations of the game boy were made such as theGame Boy Color and the Game Boy Advanced.

    Nintendo releases there second home console, the SNES. It had more advanced graphics, sound, and controls. Some of Nintendo's popular characters got their debut on this console.

    One of Nintendo's first competitors, SEGA, releases their mascot, Sonic the hedgehog on their first console, the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. It was meant to rival Nintendo's mascot Mario. SEGA's gae became so popular that the series still continues to this day.

    Nintendo makes their first 3D console. It was the first console to include the analog stick and 4 player games. It had a lot of games that people consider their favorite.

    Sony releases the Playstation 2 . It is, to this day, the best selling game system ever selling over 158 million units. The controller also introduced dual shock analog.
  • Microsoft and Xbox

    Microsoft releases their own home console, the Xbox. This started their competition between Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft also introduced online play.
