    Space War
    The first known video game, Space War, is released. This game was created on a PDP computer.

  • Pong and Odyssey

    Atari creates the first arcade video game Pong, which is based on table tennis. That same year, Magnavox releases the first home game console, the Odyssey. Games on the Odyssey are similar to Pong.

  • Atari 2600

    Atari 2600
    Originally called the Video Computer System, the 2600 makes cartridge-based consoles very popular. Games released on the system include Combat, Pitfall, and Atari's version of Space Invaders.
