    The secretary of treasury announced there would be a new design to help stop counterfitting. The design was first introduced in 1996 on the $100 bill. On the $50 the next year, and on the $20 bill the year after.

    In 1998 a new act to create a quarter for every state was put into place. The quarters displayed a special design to show the states history and tradition. The progam was to run from '98 to '08, producing five new state quarters every year for 10 years.
