    The Liverpool school of the blind was created in England.
  • Brown Vs. Board of ED.

    End of racial segregation, but Special ED. students where still segregated.

    First right to education lawsuit in US, and provided education to all students.
  • Mills Vs. Board of ED.

    Requierd that Public schools provide education to Students with disabilitys, and requierd schools to go through due procces to dismiss Students.
  • 504 Plan

    First Bill of Rights for people with disablities. Section 504 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Section 504 ensures that the child with a disability has equal access to an education.
  • Rehablitaion Act

    authorizes the formula grant programs of vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, independent living, and client assistance.

  • IDEA

    IDEA requires states to establish goals for the performance of children with disabilities that are consistent with the goals and standards for nondisabled children. States are also required to improve graduation rates and dropout rates, and to report the progress of children with disabilities on state and district assessments.
    1997- Streaghthened the corriculim and made it more challageing for students.
    2004- Broke the students in to smaller groups by age and expectations. birth to 2 / 3 - 21
  • Public Law 94-142 (Education of All Handicapped Children)

    This act required all public schools accepting federal funds to provide equal access to education, one free meal a day for children with physical and mental disabilities. Public schools were required to evaluate handicapped children and create an educational plan with parent input that would emulate as closely as possible the educational experience of non-disabled students.

    prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities. The ADA also establishes requirements for telecommunications relay services.
  • NCLB

    “to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
