    This is an organization that allows students with disabilities to have a good experience when in school when it comes to their performance in their classes. This also helps with teachers and professors to obtain resources for their students with disabilities to use to improve on their school experience. This organization mainly focuses on professionals to help with their exceptional students in any way they can.

  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education

    This case was a big event in the civil rights movement. A father by the name of Oliver Brown filed a suit against Topeka, Kansas' School Board. He had filed a suit because they did not accept his daughter in all white schools.
  • Elementary and Secondary Education Act

    Elementary and Secondary Education Act

    There are many people that are covered under this act such as migrants, low-incomes families and those homeless to name a few. There are several Titles that are involved in this act. Title IV, fro example, helped with funding for collegiate research as well as training. The No Child Left Behind Act was a reauthorization of this act.

    Vocational Rehabilitation Act

    This service helps people with disabilities to try to find jobs as well as helping them with receiving post-secondary education. They help people with all kinds of disabilities whether it be a mental or physical disability. There are several sections included in this Act such as Section 501, 504, and 508, just to name a few.

    Educational Amendments Act

    This act states that people in the United States cannot be discriminated in any education program. Schools should also tell students that they are allowed to file a sexual harassment complaint. Schools need to also investigate complaints that have been made.

    This act is called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. This act was passed so that students with disabilities could be able to receive free public education. This act authorizes Discretionary grants and Formula grants.

    Advocating Change Together (ACT)

    ACT helps people with disabilities so they are aware and they know that they have rights. It also helps people that have disabilities with different types of skills. By working with people with and without disabilities, it helps people come together to build a bond.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act

    Americans with Disabilities Act

    This act ensures those with disabilities that they have the same rights as anyone else. Also, this act makes sure there is no discrimination towards those with any type of disability. This act is also made up and divided into five sections.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act

    According to this law, schools had to test their students and they had to send their scores for the population of schools. This Act was signed in 2002 by former president George W. Bush. The act also increased the federal role of schools to be fully responsible for their students' progress.

    IDEIA

    The act is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act. This act states that schools need to help the students with learning disabilities. This act made a few changes to the due process as well as the IEP.
