    The French Indian War was one of a series of wars between the British and French starting as early as the 1600s. British soldiers fought against French soldiers and Native Americans. Native Americans joined in the battle against the British because they were afraid the British would take over their land.

    Signed by President Lincoln, the Homestead Act granted citizens the opportunity to apply for a plot of land. Theses homesteads were typically 160 acres and were west of the Mississippi River. In an effort to liberalize the previous Preemption Act of 1841, the Homestead Act encouraged westward expansion.

As the technology of television entered its stages of infancy at the same time that the Vietman war began, it was the first "Television War."
