    Printing makes it's way in to Europe. This newfound technology was accompanied by a paper mill. The paper mill first appeared in Fabriano, Italy.

    Johann Gensfleisch zum Gutenburg finds a good method for printing in books. This made it possible to publish and write books much quicker and more effectively. This was the first succesful method for printing in books.

    Known as one of the best typeface designers, Nicolas Jenson, makes a new breakthrough in the history of type. He set a whole new standard for Roman type.

    Claude Garamond made another breakthrough in typing/fonts in Graphic Design. By opening a type foundry, he was able to develope fonts. Garamond could also sell these fonts to printers.

    One of the most legendary type fonts, Caslon Old Style font is developed. This font was used later for the printing of the Declaration of Independence.

    The first printing press was created by Lord Stanhope. It was made of all cast-iron parts. This required a fraction of the manual labor foce and it doubled the paper size that was possible.
