    Golf was created in Scotland in the 15th century. Although there were other ball and stick games they all lacked the core aspect of golf, the hole. this changed the game because it created it.

    Golf banned by king James II

    because of golf there was a lack of military interest in Scotland because of this they lost to England and the Scottish parliament of king James II declared golf and soccer to be banned. this ban was a major change in how golf was received.

    the ban was lifted.

    the next significant change was the living of the ban, it was lifted because of the treaty of glasgow. the ban lasted 45 years.

    the Gentlemen Golfers of Leith was the first club and was formed to promote an annual competition with a silver golf club as the prize. Duncan Forbes drafted the club's rules. this led the way to uniformity of golf rules.

    prior to this they only use hickory golf clubs. this completely changed the game because it allowed innovation in club design and manufacture
  • Golf became and olympic sport.

    Golf was confirmed as a global sport when it was made an Olympic sport in 1900. this changed golf by making it an officially recognized sport. it also led to the wide spread popularity of the game

  • First televised golf game.

    televised locally the us open was play in ST louis. then in 1953 it became the first national televised golf tournament. this changed the game because households could now view the competition and led to the wide spread enjoyment of golf. also noteworthy was the first sport on the moon which was golf was televised.
