    Before Pronunciation Teaching

    Classical methods, which focused on the rigorous study of grammar and rethoric.
    Label such as: "The Grammar Translation Method"
    This method prioritized attention to the written language; learners were expected to be able to read, understand, and translate literary texts, there was a little expectation to speak the language. L2 teacher were not focusing learners.
