  • Hewlett-Packard is Founded

    David Packard and Bill Hewlett creat the HP 200A Audio Oscillator in a garage in Palo Alto, CA.
  • The Complex Number Calculator

    The first proformance of this computing device was demonstrated at Dartmoth college for an American Mathematical Society conference. The computing power shocked the audience. Using telephone lines to remotely use the device.
  • The First Bombe

    These devices were useful to gather and process Allied data. The name come from the Polish word "Bomba," meaning a mechanical means of decrypting Nazi military communications during WWII.
  • Flight Simulator

    A flight simulation device was created to train the bomber crews during WWll.
  • Harvard Mark-1

    Created to be a calculator and took up one entire room. Useful in mathmatics.
  • EDSAC

    EDSAC was the first stored computer program. This made it possible to record data.
  • ERA 1101

    The first comertially produced computer. Also the first magnetic storage making it even easier to record data.
  • TX-0

    The first general-purpose, programmable computer. This computer improved technology studies imensely.
  • SAGE — Semi-Automatic Ground Environment

    This linked radar devices between Canada and the U.S. Making communications easier between the two neighboring counrties.
  • PDP-8

    The first commercially successful minicomputer. This computer came at a reasonable cost of $18,000. Therefore manufacturing plants, small businesses, and scientific laboratories could use this greatly improved device!
  • Kenbak-1

    The first personal computer that used standard medium-scale and small-scale integrated circuits. Later on the company closed its doors after only selling 40 computers.
