Around 1913, a German engineer named Oskar Barnack made a camera called "Lecia". This camera was a prototype for a compact or small camera that used a special kind of film. This camera was different from the Kodak because it was smaller. It still had fixed focus lenses. http://leicarumors.com/2011/12/04/leica-milestones.aspx/?scrlybrkr=5883f8a1 http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/photography/historyofcameras.html?scrlybrkr=8936087b

In the 1920's-30's a single lens camera was made. It was different from the Kodak and Leica because it used a mirror and prism system so the person taking the photo can see exactly what picture they are going to take. It still had a single lens like the first two cameras. http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/photography/historyofcameras.html?scrlybrkr=8936087b

The first disposable camera came out in 1948 and was called Polaroid. It let people have their pictures right away instead of waiting for the film like the older cameras. The film had a special chemical so it would come out right away. They were cheap and used for birthdays and special events. http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/photography/historyofcameras.html?scrlybrkr=8936087b

Digital cameras started to come out in early 2000s. The technology improved, the cost was less because it was not heavy. Pictures didn't need to be developed and were of better quality than older cameras. You don't need film for a digital ca,era like you did for older cameras like the Lecia. http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/photography/historyofcameras.html?scrlybrkr=8936087b
