History of Boston Children's Theatre

  • Community Services of Boston Inc is Formed

  • Name is changed to "Community Recreation Service of Boston Inc"

    This program offered recreational activites to children. These programs included both sports and theatre programs.
  • Trib Dissolves

    Once Trib (a children's theatre program in the area) dissolved, CRS continued their mission of providing accessible theatre opportunity to young artists, and became the producers of Boston Children's Theatre.
  • Adele Thane Becomes Artistic Director of CRS, and changes the company's name to Boston Children's Theatre.

    This was the final name change.
  • Mickey Coburn becomes Artistic Director

    She started the free ticket program by reaching out for more grants. She also hired ASL interpreters for deaf students at performances.
  • Burgess Clark becomes the Artistic Director

    Burgess Clark started a pre-professional training program, has brought in Broadway performers for masterclasses, and has provided studio classes.
