    An Italian movement that consisted of radical futuristic design. It embraced the new technology and featured it in many designs. The movementemphasized the dynamism, speed, energy, and power of the machine and the vitality, change, and restlessness of modern life in general. The most significant results of the movement were in the visual arts and poetry. Key artists of the movement included Filippo Marinetti and Antonio Sant'Elia.

    Constructivism was a Russian movement after the revolutionIt consisted of well designed, utilitarian objects that wer widely accessible. This movement was influence by the Bauhaus movement and was founded by Vladimir Tatlin on his trip to Paris. It came to an end in 1935.

    Bauhaus

    The design in this time consisted of decorative motifs & industrial machine aesthetic. Bauhaus style is characterized by its severely economic, geometric design and by its respect for materials. The Bauhaus building was later closed by the nazi party. The main figure in the Bauhaus movement was Walter Gropius.

    International style

    This movement was all about applying function to geometric forms. It was aninfluential modernist style in architecture that developed in Europe and the United States in the 1920s and 1930s, characterized by regular, geometric forms, open interiors, and the use of glass, steel, and reinforced concrete. Big artists in this movement were Henry-Russell Hitchcock and Philip Johnson. The movement phased out in 1980.

    Art Deco started in 1920 and started to phase out in 1939. This movement consisted of simple geometric designs and very vibrant colours. Art deco started in a time where there was and was a rise in technology. This is clearly communicated through the art and design produced. The main artists in Art Deco were Hector Guimard, Eugène Grasset, Raoul Lachenal, Paul Bellot, Maurice Dufrêne, and Emile Decoeur.

    The pop movement was aimed at youth. It is the founder of post modernism and used materials found in everyday life, readily discarded, disposable materials. Pop was abstract expressionism because it used over-intense colour and shape. Andy Warhol was a very famous pop artist.

    Post modernism questions the logic of simplicity and order, suggesting ambiguity. It consists of diverse and modern design. A lot of emotion is expressed through post modern art. Post modernism was influenced by Clement Greenberg.

    Memphis was a reaction to international style it blurred boundaries of design through highly decorative forms, bold colours and pattern.Draws on pop culture, mass produced objects, games, media products and sci fi. It was founded by Ettore Sottsass, an Italian designer.

    This movement embraced digital technology and design. This was out of the ordinary because technology enabled an ability to research hence art and design was never the same.It blurred the definition of artist, film maker, musician & animator etc
