Arthur became president after Grafield was assissinated. Arthur was a widower. Arthur signed the Pendleton act. He also made sure the rebirth of the United states Navy. Steped down when he became sick. -
Benjamin Harrison
Harrison wanted to reward his supporters. Passed the Sherman Antitrust act. Started pensions for Union Veterans. Known for the tariff he issued, the Mckinley. -
Grover Cleveland
December 1887 Cleveland called on Congress to reduce high protective tariffs. Taft did not like the campaign it was the most uncomfortable four months of his life he clams. Cleveland also signed the Interstate Commerce Act it was the first law attempting Federal regulation of the railroads in 1893. -
William McKinley
McKinley led the victory in the Spanish-American war. Raised protective taxes to promote american industry. He also maintained the nation on the cold standard in a rejection in inflationary proposals. He was assissinated. -
Theodore Roosevelt
Roosevelt wanted a square deal. Square deal Became his slogan. Square deal ment everyone was treated equal. Roosevelt wanted higher pay and shorter work days for all the workers, he also helped pass laws for the well being of people. -
William Howard Taft
taft signed the Payne-Aldrich Tariff whitch raised Tariffs. The Balllinger-Pinchot affair sabotage former president Rossovelts conservation program losseing Rossovelts support and that of progressives. He also passed the man-Elkins act extedeing powers of Intesatate Commerce Commission to telephone and telegraph companys. -
Woodrow Wilson
Won election becuase Roosevelt splite the republican party with Taft. Was President during WW1 and was included in "The Big Three". Was having problems with treaties for this war.
