A movement started by horse man to start state sponsored public education. Oh this movement used local property tax to fund the education and allowed the students to go and learn for free. -
Measure Movement
Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon started this movement which measures the intelligence of a persons brain. Together they created the test that we know as an IQ test. -
Brown v.s. The Board of Education
This is a quart case that made it possible for all children of all races to go to the same school. Before this they were forced to follow the “separate but equal” doctrine. -
National Defense Education Act
The NDEA I was made to strengthen the American school systems through funding. This act also encourage students to continue their education after graduating from high school. -
Head Start
The Headstart program was made for preschool education to help children from low income families. This program was made possible from the war against poverty which President Johnson was apart of. -
Title IX
This is the law prohibiting discrimination against employees or students based on their sex. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
This act allows a public education for children with disabilities. This education is free and appropriate for each child. -
Standards Movement
This movement puts an emphasis on academic standards. This started because of the nation at risk report. It showed educators what their students should know in each grade. -
No Child Left Behind
This law I improv the success of students through yearly standardized tests for students. -
