Important because: a lot of teachers who were teaching children were inadequate so graduates got better education to teach the children. -
New Amsterdam (New York) established their first school
Important because: schools and education are expanding. -

Important because: education for women was not as good as it was for men so a school for girls specifically would do good for that. -
Benjamin Franklin established the Academy of Philadelphia
Important because: again schools and education is expanding. -

Important because: education for women is just as important as it is for men so opening women's schools levels the playing field. -
Military School was established (West Point)
Important because: there were a lot of wars and battles around this time and after so training was good for them. -

Important because: not everyone can afford private education. -
The U.S. Naval Academy was established
Important because: they do different things in different branches of the military so its good to have different schools for each. -
The Department of Education was established
Important because: it was very much needed to make important decisions for schools across the board so that schools weren't doing completely different things and are kind of on the same board. -
Public schools were present in every state
Important because: again not everyone can afford private education. -
The Association of American Universities is founded to promote higher standards and put U.S. universities on an equal footing with their European counterparts
Important because: schools could always use a better education. -

Important because: again we could always use something that will better education. -
At the end of World War 2, the G.I. Bill of Rights gives thousands of working class men college scholarships for the first time in U.S. history
Important because: everyone deserves higher education or at least a chance at it. -
egregation in schools went to the Supreme Court with Brown vs. Board of Education
Important because: schools in the south began the slow process of desegregating schools which is always good because we should not be separated because of the color of our skin. -
multi-millionaire Ron Unz puts a measure on the ballot outlawing bilingual education in California.
Important because: it obviously failed but it's important that some of us get that option because some might want to extend it into college and use it in their career.
