1821:First public high school
Was the first public high school which was in boston and was a classical school during this time. -
1827
Johann Pestal Ozzi had suggested that education should take place in a caring atmosphere and it should also be a place to improve society. -
1839
Horace Mann was the leading figure of the American Education. He was the one that came up with "common school" and this was for the average person when going to school. He convinced taxpayers that he wanted yo have public education for kids. -
1840
Horace Man was someone else who improved teacher qualifications and came up with the "nations first normal school" which was a institution designed to prepare people for careers as becoming teachers and having the knowledge they need. -
1850
Fredrich Frobel was a person known as "the father of kindergarten" he worked really hard to convince people that they should support efforts so the young children can have a well planned educational experience. This is where kindergarten took place and if there was no kindergarten today there would be many children who lack the basics that are taught at a young age and may fall behind in not knowing the basic academics. -
1860
During this time 50.6% of nations children were enrolled in public school programs. During this time majority of the states had formed free schools, elementary programs, and public universities for people. -

The National Department of Education was established as part of the federal government. -
1909
During this time the first junior high was established by Berkeley which was in California and this was due to the kids struggling from going from the elementary school straight ti high school. This has a major impact on today because if we didn't have the middle school or junior high in between them the two there could be alot of lost and confused children between those grades because it is so much for a child to know between them years. -
1945
After WWII there was a increase with people young people having accidents and in the response to it they have added drivers education in the school system and made the schools responsible of the children getting their license there. This has a major impact today because this is a course you can take now in highschool and you can take it for free and you do not have to pay which is good. -
1954
When the enormous change took place in education it was when Brown v. Board of Ed took place and this is when it was declared about " Separation but equal" which now meant no more separation which the white and the black children. -
1957
The educational responses to the russian launched to the earth satellite and this was called sputnik and when ding this it led to implementation of the massive federal mandate which was the National Defense on the education act. This is when the education system had a primary goal of defense and this wa all for the nation. -
1960
There was also a time when drug abuse was happening in school age kids and alcohol abuse and this is when they added in programs for drug abuse to the schools curriculums. If we did not have drug programs today there could be alot more people and kids who could have died from drugs or even ruined their life these programs help children and people be well aware of how drugs can ruin your life or cause major changes.
