    The Beginning
The need for children to read and understand the Bible and secular laws led to the incorporation of the basic form of education that founded what is now in progress: teacher-classroom. This was the first form of social education and while it may have been primarily influenced by religion, it was still a major evolution of education in forming America that still holds roots today.

    A Nation Reborn
Following the end of the Revolution, the newly formed United States determined that with the new government there would also be a new education outlook. Power was given to the people to self govern education and separate the religion from the information. This created the information driven role education now has in society as a building of knowledge.

With the rise in latin Grammer schools came a desire for an education for more "middle class" members of the population. This was the rise of academies. Academies were unique in that they accepted boys and girls and provided a fairly equal education. Not only was this the foothold to gender equality in education but it was also the start of what is now known as "highschool" in public education.
  • Board of Education

    Board of Education
The first State Board of Education was formed to provide insight on the school system involving investigation conditions and reporting facts, among many other things. This would hold a great impact of the State's expectations and standards for education that dictate the current education system not only on general Federal guidleines, but on individualized state needs.

Russia's successful launch of Sputnik into space caused an uproar for an upgrade to curriculum. The concept of "modernizing" education led to the incorporation of current events and scientific advances into the existing core classes. This led to a growth in education that still focuses on the core basics while introducing updated information relative to the societal growth.
