  • First Public School in America

    Boston Latin School was the first public school in Boston, Massachuesstts.This school is still operating and the oldest school to date. It was a boys only public secondary school for college preparation. (National)
  • Ye Olde Deluder Satan

    This law in Massachusetts had required towns with more than fifty households to hire a teacher to instruct children to read and write, it also required towns of a hundred or more households to build a grammar school. This law had set the standards to make towns accountable to teach their children. (Kaplan)
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    A major historical event that ruled racial segregation of children in schools was unconstitutional. This event allowed children of all colors to receive education and forever changed education for the better. (Livingston)
  • Public Law 94-142

    Gave free public education to any child with a disability. It protected the rights of children and their parents. This law is so important in the history of education and provided such a positive impact to millions. (ARCHIVED)
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    This act was to hold schools accountable for how students learned. The goal was to have a level playing field for students in poverty, minorities, special education, and more.
