    Started as a social club in Tennessee by Confederate Veterans. The first Grand WIzard of the Ku Klux Klan was Nathan Bedford Forrest. There were 3 different waves of the Ku Klux Klan each getting progressively more different than the original.
  • Bear Bryant's Life and Coaching Career

    Bear Bryant's Life and Coaching Career
    Born on September 11, 1913, in Moro Bottom, Arkansas. When the program began to sputter late in the decade, Bryant updated his offensive system and recruited the school's first black players and the result was a return to dominance, with the Tide winning the national championship in 1973, '78 and '79. He died of a heart attack January 26, 1983.

    Abbie Hoffman
    Abbie Hoffman was born Nov. 30, 1936, in Worcester, Mass. He was active in protests of the Vietnam War and the American economic and political system. After he was arrested in 1973 on cocaine charges, Hoffman went underground.

    President Dwight D. Eisenhower pledged his support to Diem and South Vietnam. In 1961, JFK sent in some troops to start a military in Vietnam. Johnson and his Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara then started sending massive amounts of troops to fight in Vietnam.

    Integration of the University of Alabama
    When African American students attempted to desegregate the University of Alabama in June 1963, Alabama’s new governor, flanked by state troopers, literally blocked the door of the enrollment office. On June 10, 1963, President John F. Kennedy federalized National Guard troops and deployed them to the University of Alabama to force its desegregation. September of the same year, Wallace again attempted to block the desegregation of an Alabama public school and again failed when JFK sent troops.

    On November 22, 1963 in his motorcade, John F. Kennedy was shot in the head in Dallas, Texas. An hour later, Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the murder. Lyndon B. Johnson became POTUS.

    Founded in October 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale for self -defense. They practiced militant self-defense of minorities against the US government. Fought to promote socialism throughout its ranks.

    On June 17, 1972, 5 people were arrested breaking inside the office of the Democratic National Committee, located in the Watergate building in Washington, D.C. In the beginning, Nixon denied all involvement and insisted he had no knowledge. Due to a paper trail, Nixon's involvement was proved.

    After being found guilty of involvement in the Watergate scandal, Nixon was in the face of an impeachment. Instead of being impeached, Nixon chose to resign as POTUS. Gerald Ford stepped in as president to finish Nixon's term.

    In Sacramento, California, September 5, 1975, Lynette Fromme attempted to kill Gerald Ford. She was a member of the Charles Manson Family cult. The attempt was stumped by a misfire of her Colt M1911 pistol.

    On December 8, 1980 John Lennon was walking into the Sheraton Hotel in Manhattan when he was shot by Mark David Chapman. Chapman then sat calmly and waited for police. Lennon died of multiple gunshot wounds to the back and shoulder.

    John Hinckley, Jr.shoots President Ronald Reagan outside the Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. Hinckley’s first shot hit press secretary James Brady and other shots wounded a police officer and a Secret Service agent, the final shot hit Reagan’s limo and then ricocheted into the President’s chest. Hinckley was later found not guilty by reason of insanity.
