  • The King of Rock n Roll

    Rock n Roll became more popular in the 50s and 60s. This popularity was greatly due to Elvis Presley whose career, beginning in 1954, brought countless cultural changes to America.
  • Rosa Parks

    On December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks, an African American woman, refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. This was one of the many events that sparked the Civil Rights movement of the 50s and 60s.
  • Watergate Scandal

    Five men broke into the Democratic National Committee Headquarters at the Watergate hotel on June 17, 1957. These men were arrested and were found with substantial ties to Richard Nixon, the president at that time. Nixon resigned from office due to fear of reparations from being associated with the Watergate Scandal.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    On October 14, 1962 American spies detected nuclear missiles in Cuba. This sparked the Cuban Missile Crisis which lasted until October 28 when Cuba finally removed their missiles.
  • Kennedy's Assassination

    President Kennedy had begun to change America for the better. Unfortunately, on November 22, 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed President Kennedy. The president's death registered fear in Americans and ended the legacy of Kennedy.
  • The Civil Rights Act of 1964

    The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibited discrimination when hiring, promoting, or firing employees. This Act was a major advance in the Civil Rights Movement.
  • Vietnam

    President Johnson launched the bombing of Vietnam in March of 1965. This began America's involvement in the long and unpopular Vietnam War.
  • America's Failure

    On April 30, 1975 the last American forces were airlifted out of Vietnam. America had officially left the Vietnam War without a positive ending. Public backlash, soldier casualties, and countless other negative effects rendered the Vietnam War a failure.
