Heading for the Future!

  • The Google Classroom

    The Google Classroom
Teachers begin using Google Classroom for their learning management system to provide a blended learning environment for their students.
  • Going Google!

    Going Google!
The final steps will occur to turn our District into a Google Apps for Education district. Those schools that already have GAE domains will be pulled in and all other sites will be added. A formal roll-out and training plan will be created for all teachers.
  • A Device for Every Student

    A Device for Every Student
A structured rollout beginning with elementary schools will complete by the start of the 2015-2016 school year. All students will be 1:1 with Chromebooks in Elementary 3-5, Middle School and High School. Kindergarten - 2nd grade will be outfitted with tablets. Chromebooks will also be available for the K-2 classrooms to learn keyboarding skills and tablets will be available for the older students to take advantage of that technology too.
  • Textbooks become Obsolete

    Textbooks become Obsolete
After a long process, traditional textbooks have been replaced with teacher created materials using Open Education Resources. These "textbooks" are online documents that students have ownership of. Why do we give students textbooks only to rip the information out of their hands at the end of the term? Additionally, using these resources will save the district a considerable amount of money which can be used to continue to update technology.
  • Digital Portfolios Replace Traditional Report Cards

With the start of the new school year, all student work will be presented in digital format. All teachers will be fully integrated with using Google Classroom and students will submit work through this platform. Parents will receive feedback on student progress digitally.
  • A Paperless District

Full integration with Google Apps for Education has resulted in a completely paperless district. Everything can be found online and teachers have become accustomed to reading in this format eliminating the need for printing. More cost savings for the district.

    Individualized Graduation Requirements

After working with the college system, graduation requirements become individualized based on the needs of the students. While some courses will remain requirements, students can have a custom plan designed for their future college or career path.
