  • Sopwith Camel

    Sopwith Camel
The Camel was a single seater biplane fighter and was the primary plane which was used in WW1. It was introduced on to the Western Front in 1917. It was a difficult aircraft to handle but it offered the pilot great manoueverability. The firepower was also very good as it had twin Vickers machine guns.1294 enemies were shot. In total 5490 were built. The Camel Prototype was first flown by Harry Hawker at Brooklands on the 22nd of December 1916. The production of the plane stopped in January 1920.
  • Hawker Harrier

    Hawker Harrier
The Hawker Harrier was a high altitude torpedo bomber plane. The plane was designed by Sydney Camm. The Hawker Harrier first took to the skies in February 1927. The Harrier was a two seat biplane. It had single bay wings, which was powered by a geared Bristol Jupiter VIII radial engine. It could hold a Vickers machine gun and a Lewis Gun. The Lewis Gun could hold up to 454kg of bombs. The Harrier Prototype was tested at Martlesham Heath.
  • Hawker Fury

    Hawker Fury
The hawker fury was a plane use by by the RAF. It was fast and agile and held the RAF intercepter air speed record of 200mph. They used the Rolls Royce F.XI V-12 engine which later came to be known as the Rolls Royce Kestrel. It was a replacement of the Hawker F. 20/27 fighter plane.THe plane had extremely sensitive controls which made it extremely manoueverable and hence it had very good aerobatic skill. Due to the great depression, only a few were odered.
  • Hawker Hurricane

    Hawker Hurricane
The Hawker Hurricane was built in 1965 by Sydney Camm. It was thge first operational R.A.F aircraft that could exceed 300 mph. Sydney Camm tried to break the bi-plane formula and make a monoplane. He based the Hawker Hurricane on a previous plane called the Hawker HInd. The Hawer hurrcaine was faster and more advanced than all other previous planes but even when it was being built it was built using outdated methods of construction. It used the traditional Hawker methods of construction.
  • Comparison of the Hurricane and the Fury

  • Hawker Typhoon

    Hawker Typhoon
Thge hawker typhoon was refered to in millitary slang as the "Tiffiy". From 1940 onwards, the plane was fitted with bombs and air to ground rockets and due to that, it became one of WWII's most succefull ground attack planes. It was a medium-high altitude plane. Sydney Camm was planning the design for the Typhoon even befeore the Hurricane was built. It was much better than the Hurricane because it was much faster and had better weapons.
  • Hawker Hunter

    Hawker Hunter
The Hawker Hunter was manufactured by Hawker Siddeley. It was first a fighter aircraft, however it changed into a bomber aircraft. It first took to the skies on the 20th of July 1951. A total of 1,972 planes were produced. It was the fastest plane in 1951 with a high speed of 727 miles per hour. This speed was generated by a 6,500 lbf (28.91 kN) Avon 103 engine. The Hunter was also exported to other countries air forces. 21 other air forces were using the Hawker Hunter.
  • Hawker Harrier

    Hawker Harrier
The Hawker Sydney Harrier or the Harrier Jump jet was a vertical take off and landing plane, (VTOL). It did this by having rockets on the bottom which could swivel. So when the plane took oof vertically and got to a good height, the rockets would swivel around and and the plane would go off. the design of the Harrier was derived off a Hawker P.1127. It is generally used as a ground attacking aircraft but due to its manoueverability it could attack air units aswell.
  • Comparison of Hawker Harrier (Later Version) and Typhoon

The Hawker Harrier was a much more advanced plane as it could take off vertically and also land vertically. It was also able to stay still in the air. Both planes were ground attacking units. The Hawker Harrier could have been more easier to control and it was faster so it could get away easier.
  • Comparison of the Sopwith Camel and the Hawker Fury

The Hawker Fury was faster than the Sopwith Camel and had a Rolce Royce engine. The Hawker Fury was a lot more agile than the Sopwith Camel and was easier to handle. The Fury had better maneovarability than the Sopwith Camel as the controls were very sensitive.
  • Comparison of the Hawker Hunter and the Hawker Hurricane

In 1935, the Hawker Hurricane was the only operational air-craft that could exceed 300 miles per hour. However, in 1951 the Hawker Hunter flew at 727 mile per hour. That is a big difference of 427 miles per hour. The hawker Hunter could be used for a fighter aircraft of a bomber aircraft. However, the Hawker Huricane was only a fighter plane.
