The History of Green Inventions

  • First Electric Car

Scottish inventor Robert Anderson invents the first crude electric carriage powered by non-rechargeable primary cells.
  • First Low-Flush Toilet

A low-flush toilet (or low-flow toilet or high-efficiency toilet), is a flush toilet that uses significantly less water than a full-flush toilet. Low-flush toilets use 4.84 litres (1.28 US gal; 1.06 imp gal) or less per flush as opposed to 6 litres (1.6 US gal; 1.3 imp gal). They came into use in the United States in response to water conservation concerns.
  • The First Green-Bin Program

The Halifax Regional Municipality was the first municipality in Canada to implement the Green Bin Program. Following this year, many more municipalities joined, and it is now practically a Canada wide program.
