In the mine star hope at Hillend people unearthed the biggest found peice of reef gold. It is worth over three tousand ounces. -

On the 29th of November 1872 a gold feild licence went into force. Without a licence you were not aloud to mine. To buy a licence you had to pay three shillings and you had to pay that every month. -
Start and finish of gold rush
The Australian gold rush started in 1851 and started to die down at about 1872 altough people were still finding peices of gold the population was starting to get lower again. -
