    The Beginning of the "Age of Discovery"
    This is the estimated year Henry the Navigator set sail in search of a sea route to Asia. This sparked the "Age of Discovery" in which kings and queens sponsored many explorers to search for this sea route and to expand their territory. Rather than finding Asia, many European ships stumbled upon the Americas and various islands.     Transatlantic Slave Trade
    While the Transatlantic Slave Trade is estimated to have started in the early 15th century, in 1650 the business boomed in response to increased size and number of plantations. While it was a horrible business, it did serve to further globalization. People and cultures mixed and traditions, beliefs and goods were shared.     The first telegram was sent by a man named Morse on January 11. This marked the common man's first technological communication. This was the starting point to what would later develop into phone calls and then texting. Globalization was pushed forward as these technological advancements increased communication.
