The Salzburgers had the first&Oldest church.

They settled on the Altamaha river and formed the City of Darien.

About 16,000 Cherokee Indians left their home and more than 5,000 Cherokee Indians died About 3,500 off the 15,000 Creek Indians died going to oaklhome. Many Indians cried on there way to Oaklhome.

    Hamilton Homles is the best known for desegregating Georgia unversities. One of the first two African American students admitted to the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens in 1961. Homles was also the first black student admitted to the Emory Unviersity school of Medicine in Atlanta two years later. Hamilton Homles died in his Atlanta home in October.
