  • Galileo improves upon telescope

Galileo improves upon the refracting telescope invented by Hans Lippershey. Galileo observed sunspots on the sun. He saw that Venus went through phases similar to the moon. Galileo also observed moons orbiting Jupiter.
  • Hooker 100 Discovers Andromeda Galaxy

Galileo’s discoveries inspired others to discover the mysteries of the universe. Many others after Galileo improved the telescope so they could observe many other things farther than the Milky Way. Hooker 100 inch telescope discovers the Andromeda Galaxy, launching Edwin Hubble’s search for more.
  • Hubble Telescope sent into Orbit

Many improvements to Galileo's telescopes have been made. Telescopes on Earth can only see a limited amount of the universe. This telescope was attached to a machine and sent into Earth's atmosphere to observe more universe.
  • Nasa Uses Space Telescopes

Today, NASA uses telescopes majorly improved upon from Galileo’s design to find planets that are beyond our solar system. They now use much more advanced telescopes that use gamma, ultraviolet, visible, infrared, and x-ray beams to look even further than any other telescopes.
