This is the start of her art career. This piece was titled "Self portrait in a velvet dress." At this time she was recovering from a tragic bus accident that leaves her crippled.

Frida has fully recovered to a point where she can live a "normal life" at home. She begins painting portraits of family and friends.

Frida marries Diego Rivera on August 21st, 1929. In December of that same year, she paints her second self portrait.

Frida and Diego depart for San Francisco on November 10th. Diego has been commissioned to paint murals. While he paints his murals, Frida paints a double portrait based on a photograph taken at her wedding, she titles it "Frieda and Diego Rivera."

In April of 1932, the couple moved to Detroit because Diego was commissioned again for a mural. Around this time Frida painted a piece depicting her miscarriage, she called it "Henry Ford Hospital" after the hospital it occurred in.

After completing his murals, Diego an Frida travel to New York City. In New York City, Diego starts a new commissioned mural while Frida begins working on "My Dress Hangs There." This painting expressed how she felt homesick for Mexico, and her disapproval for the United States. Even though she wanted to leave, Diego insisted on staying in the United States.

On January 9th, 1937, Leon Trotsky and his wife, Natalie Sedova arrive to the Blue House in Coyoacán, where they were granted political asylum. Frida and Leon grew close and had a brief affair that ended in July. During this time she painted "Self-Portrait Dedicated to Leon Trotsky."

Frida met André Breton in 1938, André helped Frida spread her name around New York by arranging for exhibits to feature her work. From November 1st to November 15th that same year, Frida had her first solo exhibit.

Frida moved to Paris in 1939, where she exhibited some of her paintings and grew friendships with other great artist like Marcel Duchamp and Pablo Picasso. Later that year, her and Diego divorced, ending the decade marriage. During this time she painted one of her most iconic pieces, "The Two Fridas."

Dr. Eloesser convinced Diego to try to remarry Frida. Frida agreed but on two conditions: No sex between them, and no spending money on her. On December 8th Frida and Diego remarried. They returned to Mexico shortly after the marriage. That year Frida painted one of her most recognized pieces.

On July 13th, 1954, Frida tragically died of pulmonary embolism. Her last painting was titled "Viva la vida watermelons" "I hope the exit is joyful — and I hope never to return — Frida".
