French and Indian War timeline

  • The End of the French and Indian war.

    The End of the French and Indian war.
    This was the start of the Treaty of Paris, this provided large amounts of land to Great Britain. This caused the colonist to be upset because this act restricted their ability to take land. This also led them to hold a lot of war debt.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was made in April 5th, 1764. This law was passed and changed the tax on various goods such as sugar, molasses coffee and more by charging 3 cents per gallon than 6 cents per gallon. This law was created to help pay off England's war debt. The colonist were obviously angry since they had no say in the parliament and couldn't smuggle as much rum as they used to.

    The Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was passed by parliament and this act forced the colonist to allow British soldiers in their homes. This act clearly was disliked because they were taxed to pay for supplying for the soldiers.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed in October 7th, 1765-- This act declared that all printed papers needed a stamp. And no, the stamp was not free. The act was just for Britain to gain revenue but it was annoying for the people that used a lot of paper. The colonist were visibly angry and set up the Stamp Act congress and protesters then organized a boycotting of British goods.

    The Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act was effect of all the violent protests. The whole act was just the British needing money to pay of war debts but the colonist were outraged due to the raise in taxes. The British parliament then passed the act but was like, we can tax you when ever we want, but we won't but do keep that in mind that we could.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The townshend Act in 1767 simply taxed imported goods since the British Parliament still needed money so they raised the revenue. This stopped the customs to stop smuggling which we did not like. The Colonist then boycotted and women began making their own clothes than buying british ones then the artisans liked boycotts because they would get more money. In the end, the colonist boycotted British goods once again.

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act granted the tea company to ship tea to the colonies first before England. This upset the colonies because Britain monopolized tea so the East Indian company can gain profit quickly so britain's economy wouldn't go down. Yet since tea is a staple item, this act messed up the business for the colonist who were tea merchants.
  • The Massachusetts Government Act

    The Massachusetts Government Act
    The Massachusetts Government Act gave more power to the governor and this caused the colonist to lose power. This obviously angered the colonist and now the americans colonies are in fear.
  • the Quebec Act

    the Quebec Act
    This act of Great Britain expanded south and granted religious toleration for the Catholics. Colonist were not to happy because they were restricted them from expanding and this act declared Quebec's religion to be Catholic and this is what most colonist wanted to get away from----The colonist responded to the acts was the start of the American Revolution.
