Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was the act to cut the duty on foreign molasses from 6to 3 pence per gallon, prohibited the importation on all foreign rum, and retained a high duty on foreign refined sugar. They were upset about the taxes and acts on the sugar act so they started to protest against it, many people also stated to smuggle sugar. -
Stamp Act
The stamp act was the act that required the colonist to pay for tax, represented by a stamp, on various forms of documents, forms of paper, and even playing cards. This made the colonist so mad that they started having riots and attacks on the tax collectors. -
Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act was the act of declaration by the Britain parliament that accompanied the repeal of the stamp act, parliament started to directly tax the colonies out of revenue for the sugar and stamp act. After this act, colonists reactions of anger started to turn into violence toward tories and British officials. -
Townshend Act
The Townshend Act was the act that initiated taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. The colonist started protesting, they used the quote “no taxation without representation”, and argued that the British parliament did not have the right to tax them because they lacked representation in the legislative body. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was the act that granted the companies the right to ship its tea directly to the colonies without landing it in England. The colonies reacted in anger and protest against (lead to the Boston tea party) it because it stated to enforce lots of tax on the people.
