    Tuscarora joins the Iroquois Confederacy. The confederacy was also called Six Nations. Nations included the Mohawk, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, and Oneida.

    Hostility between the two grew. British fur traders built a fort at a place called Pickawillany. The French attacked Pickawillany and drove British traders out of Ohio. French raided towns in Maine and New York. New Englanders captured French fortress at Louisbourg. Britian returns Louisburg to France.

    Iroquois come under greater pressure when British move into the Ohio Valley. Leaders of the Confederacy give certain trading rights to the British and become allies. Iroquois upset the balance of power between the French and British.

    George was sent to the Ohio country to tell the French that they were tresspassing on land that Great Britian claimed. He was 21 years old. After he said this they did nothing. The French said that they were going to ake possesion of Ohio.

    Several representatives of the colonies had a meeting in Albany to fight the French. Ben Franklins Albany Plan of Union was adopted for the government. Unfortunetly none of the colonies wanted to give up their power so this failed. Colonists didnt unite as a whole to fight the French. A full scale war started known as the French and Indian War.

    Washington becomes a lieutenant colonel. Washing was sent back to Ohio with a milita. A group of civilians trained to fight in emergencies. He had 150 men. They had orders to build a fort where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rives meet. They arrived to find the French already uilding a fort on that spot. Washington built another fort close by and attacked the French. Washington was forced to surrender. Washington famous for making the first blow against the French.
