    Dinwiddie sent Washington back to the Ohio country witha militia. The militia had instructions to build a fort, the site of present day Pittsburgh. When he got there they found that the french was already building Fort Duquesne on that spot. Washington established a small post nearby called Fort Necessity. Washingtons soilders had to surrender. The british soildiers were released adn returned to Virigina.

The representatives adopted Benjamin Franklin's Albany Plan of Union which called for "one general goverment". No colony assembled but approved the plan. No colony gave up power. The albany meeting failed to unite the colonists fighting the French.
