    The Boston tea party was a protest of the British Taxation on the colonies without any representation. It was the first major protest against the British rule in the colonies.

    This was considered the first fight in the revolutionary war. It took place in the towns of Lexington and Concord. It stared as a march by the British to seize weapons however the colonists fought back. Thanks to Paul Revere and William Dawes the citizens were alerted before the fighting happened.

    The Declaration of Independence was the formal announcement to England that the colonies would become their own country. This was the official start of the Revolutionary War.
  • The Winter at Valley Forge

    The Winter at Valley Forge
    During the winter George Washington camped out with his troops in Vally Forge. The winter was very rough due to a lack of supplies and many soldiers died. However thanks to the addition of Barron bon Steuben and Lafayette they were able to endure the winter and be prepared to fight once winter ended.

    The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution that the United states adopted. However it wasn't perfect and less then a decade later it was replaced with the Constitution.

    The battle of Yorktown was massive battle during the revolutionary war. With the help of the French the Americans won the battle. This was the last major battle of the war and victory for the Americans is what won them the war.
  • The Constitution is Ratified

    After the constitutional convention the government set out to change the Articles of Confederation, however they ended writing a new constitution all together. The new constitution added the 3 branches of government (judicial, legislative and executive)

    George Washington was unanimously elected as the first president of the United States of America. He refused to take a salary and gave a speech at the inauguration.

    After his second term of presidency George Washington decided to retire. In his farewell address he stated that he believed that staying president for too long could cause the country many issues. In his farewell address he spoke about many things he felt could harm the country one of those was political parties.

    George Washington died of a throat infection. His funeral was held 4 days later on December 18th. He wrote his own will and in it he requested that upon his wife's death all his slaves should be freed. All his slaves were freed before her death though.

    Thomas Jefferson was elected the president of the election however the votes we tied between him and Aaron Burr and congress had to vote on who would win. Aaron Burr became the vice president and this event did lead to the voting for the vice president to become its own ballot.
  • Marbury vs. Madison

    Marbury vs. Madison
    This was the first major supreme court case in the U.S. and was the first case to require judicial review. Madison was told to deliver a commission to the supreme court by John Adams however when Thomas Jefferson became president shortly after he told Madison to not deliver them.
